13-year-old Beatrice Njeri |
Kenyan Environmental Activist teenager Beatrice Njeri is an inspiration to her generation and everyone who cares about a clean and waste-free neighborhood.
Njeri a standard 8 pupil at Githurai Primary school stays at Sidon Children's Home in Zimmerman, Nairobi Kenya East Africa.
She is very fond of a waste-free environment and she has taken bold steps to inspire others to keep their neighborhoods waste-free through fashion.
As someone who was brought up in a high-density slum neighborhood, she felt bad seeing dumped plastic everywhere around her neighborhood.
Other plastic bags were thrown with waste which ended up creating an offensive smell causing both ground and air pollution.
Stepping on such a smell every day on her way to and from school made her feel so dirty and uncomfortable.
It is at that point that a clean and smart girl wished that one day nature will be clean and environmentally friendly.
She got relieved when the Kenyan government banned plastic bags.
Now she is campaigning and urging her schoolmates and other teens and adults to stop littering around and keep the environment clean.
Her campaign strategy includes modeling whilst wearing plastic bag outfits to send a clear message to the community about keeping the environment clean.
"God made everything beautiful !! Let's make our environment beautiful " is Beatrice Njeri's campaign motto.
